Welcome to the Northport Yacht Club

The Northport Yacht Club was founded in 1939 in the village of Bayside in Northport Maine.

Our mission as stated in the original charter:

  • To encourage the sport of boating and sailing;
  • To promote the science of seamanship and navigation;
  • To provide members with an opportunity to participate in a variety of boating and/or social activities;
  • To provide and maintain a suitable clubhouse for recreation and use by our members.

The Northport Yacht Club is much more than a club for boaters and boat owners. The club has always taken the fulfillment of the social aspects of our charter directives seriously. Only a minority of our members participate in sailing races or go on club cruises. Most join simply to have fun, meet people and participate in social activities in and for the general Bayside Community. It is the social aspects of the club that keeps members coming back.

Announcement regarding the Northport Yacht Club Board:

Craig Brigham, our long term Treasurer, announced his resignation to the Northport Yacht Club Board last night. We knew it was coming, and yet the finality of it seemed sudden. I joined the board about 4 years ago as a director, and Craig has always been there. It is weird that he won't be at the Board meetings anymore.

Craig has spent countless hours over the past eleven (11!!!) years tallying numbers and balancing accounts. He has prioritized the Yacht Club and continues to do so. His heart is 100% in it. That kind of dedication is hard to find and is an inspiration.

It is never easy for me to see people step off the Board, which I've come to see as a team. Like our Yacht Club potlucks, everyone brings something to the table. Craig, we appreciate your unique contributions over so many years. I can't thank you enough. We are fortunate that you will continue to contribute to the Racing Committee and the AIR. Cheers, Craig! 🍸

Paul Hamlin will take over as Treasurer, at least until the summer elections. Paul is a NYC member who has recently moved to Maine, so he can easily deposit all those donations. Paul has been an active member of the John Short Races, both in his boat Indigo and the yet-to-be-named tricked up Rhodes 19. Welcome aBoard, Paul! ⛵

Respectfully, Lisa Berry, Commodore
